The ladies of Soroptimist International of Pasadena have been busy helping the many organizations in the Southeast Houston Area but, for the next couple of months, attention has turned to an event that has become one of the annual major events of this organization. If you haven't heard or seen elsewhere on this website, Soroptimist International of Pasadena is throwing its 20th annual party celebrating the miracle of survival for women all over the Houston area and even the world; women helping women who have taken or are taking an often times fearful journey beyond a diagnosis of Breast Cancer. The event not only celebrates the beauty of life but raises thousands of dollars for an important Breast Cancer Screening and Treatment Center. Last year's total was more than $30,000.00 and they've been doing this for 20 years. Please check out the 'info on Rock -n- Rose' page listed as a link under RELATED TOPICS to the left to learn more about this annual event and how you can be a part of something special.

Short and Sweet - a note from President Glenna Hello Fabulous Soroptimist Ladies. This being our June issue of the Gulf Breeze, it's our last issue of the year. This is a time to reflect on our accomplishments and a time for us to realize how many women and girls need our help.
Have you asked yourself what being a Soroptimist means to you? Is it being in an organization that helps other women in need? It is meeting other professional women with different backgrounds and combining our professional skills for the greater good of mankind? Is it to personally grow in leadership skills? However you answer this question, it takes all of us to come together to make our organization the best it can be. I would like to thank each and every one of you for your time, commitment, financial resources and skills that you have offered to our organization.
News from February 2007
Service Projects underway: Check out the picture of stockings that were stuffed for the Salvation Army in December. This is only some of the 200 stockings that were stuffed. Along with the stockings, we also brought blankets for The Bridge, Rang the Bell for the Salvation Army in front of Hobby Lobby and we donated new, unused Greeting Cards and delivered them to local Nursing Homes. In January everyone got together to make purses for the ladies at Nu Hope. Some of the ladies cut fabric, some stitched the purses and some turned them right side out. Then travel size toiletries were placed in the purses.

At our last meeting, we all picked up a baby bottle or two to fill with loose change for the Crisis Pregnancy Center. The bottles are to be brought back to the February 20th meeting and we hope to be able to purchase baby items, such as a crib. Don't forget to bring magazines for The Rose to place in their waiting room. There will be another raffle at the next program meeting. And you need to begin collecting items for the Garage Sale in March. The craft show is scheduled for April and brisket sales will begin soon for Memorial Day and July 4th deliveries. We are a busy group. How, wonderful!
